Lancer Corporation are pleased to announce a joint development agreement with Blendtec, a top manufacturer of high-end blending equipment. Both Lancer Corporation and Blendtec will be showing a prototype of their first joint product offering at the National Restaurant Association (NRA) show in the US this month.
The new joint product offering is an automated blended ice beverage station for making smoothies, frozen coffee drinks and other beverages using refrigerated bag-in-box (BIB) ingredients.
This gives restaurants and other foodservice operators a fast, efficient fully-contained system to expand their menus with popular smoothies and other frozen beverages.
“Smoothies are seeing tremendous growth in the beverage category, and are becoming a mainstream offering in fast-food chains and restaurants,” said Reed Beus, CEO of Blendtec.
“We’re excited to partner with Lancer to provide a complete solution that lets chains offer high-quality fruit and dairy-based drinks to their guests.”
The new beverage station holds up to eight different refrigerated BIBs, which can include fruit purees, smoothie bases, coffee and dairy ingredients, etc. The unit will feature simple touchscreen controls for selecting the flavor and size, and the cabinet will have refrigerated storage space for whipped cream and other add-on ingredients. It will also have a built-in jar rinsing station, jar storage and cup and lid dispensers.
“Efficiency and speed of service are priorities for many chains,” said Luis Alvarez, President of Lancer. “This blended ice beverage station automates many of the traditionally manual processes involved in blending specialty drinks.”
Key Features:
- Store up to 8 refrigerated BIBs
- Use all-natural fruit purees, syrups, coffee, yogurt, etc.
- Simple visual touchscreen controls
- Customize drinks with onboard programming
- Powerful 15-amp Blendtec® blender to handle tough blends or add-ins
- Built-in jar rinsing/drying station
- 25 lb insulated ice hopper
- Refrigerated storage for whipped cream and add-ins
Benefits:
- Provide healthy, all-natural fruit and dairy-based beverages
- Fully contained system simplifies installation
- Increase speed of service
- Drink consistency
- Reduce waste
- Expandable, customizable for future menu items
- Simple controls minimize user error
- No-tend operation allows multitasking
- Competitively priced compared to similar equipment
A prototype of the new unit will be shown during the National Restaurant Association (NRA) show this month at the Lancer booth, #5607.

The Duke of Kent is the local watering hole in
Wagga Wagga, rural New South Wales, and we have recently received some feedback
that they are huge fans of their new Hoshizaki Ice Machine, installed earlier
this year.
Pictured above, the venue saw an increasing demand
to upgrade their equipment to keep up with the traffic flow of thirsty
customers. So we stepped in and installed a KM515 Hoshizaki Ice Machine.
Licensee and owner of The Duke of Kent, Christopher
Egan, was inspired after spotting a promotion as part of the annual
Australia-wide U.G.L.Y Bartender of the
Year Campaign, and decided jump the gun and upgrade.
Christopher is stoked with the results of his
refreshed ice machine as his old one just couldn’t keep up with the production.
“Since we turned on the Hoshizaki Ice Machine
we have not seen the bottom of the ice bin.”
Their brand new KM515 machine is handling the
conditions and production requirements with ease, and features:
- Individual premium crescent cube
- Stainless steel evaporator
- Wet and dry zones
- Protected by HoshiGuard Antimicrobial
Agent
- CycleSaver Design
- EverCheck alert system
- Durable stainless steel exterior
- Removable air filters
Chris now has comfort and piece
of mind knowing that his pub equipment is protected by stringent warranty terms
and supply of spare parts. May his customers never go thirsty again!

A recent
trend has appeared – personal ice machines for both indoor and outdoor
kitchens.
Imagine
having your friends and family over to entertain them, and having the liberty
of offering them some ice out of your very own ice machine!
Small ice
machines are increasingly being installed in the kitchens of new and remodeled
homes and are now on the specification lists of many high-end luxury apartment
builders, according to Joe Thorp, our managing director. Not to mention,
there have also been some installations occurring on luxury yachts – for a high
class sailor indeed!
Joe feels
that the Aussie climate is well suited to outdoor living and homeowners are
increasingly treating their outdoor areas less as a backyard and more like an
outdoor room.
"The
days of the portable barbeque being wheeled out of the shed have been replaced
by a range of built-in bench tops, range hoods, pizza ovens, bar fridges and
sinks.”
The
more popular model is the IM-30 ice machine, which has the capacity to produce
up to 22 kilograms of crystal clear ice cubes per day in temperatures of up to
40 degrees. The IM-30 has a stainless steel finish and fits neatly into the
design of new custom build outdoor kitchens or existing kitchens, as you can see in the above photo.
Well we
can’t wait to see more of this happening. Imagine the backyard festivities!

The past year has been a successful one for the team at OzHarvest, a charity dedicated to collecting excess food from restaurants, retailers, food outlets and corporate kitchens (that would otherwise be discarded) to deliver it to charities that feed Australians in need.
OzHarvest delivered 5.34 million meals nationally in FY2012! An awesome effort, of which we were proud to assist by donating two new Hoshizaki HRE140B 2-door Reach-in Refrigerators featuring full stainless steel construction, Gastro norm specifications, lockable heavy duty castors and off cycle defrost. We donated one to the new OzHarvest kitchen in Adelaide at Pooraka (as well as a pass through dishwasher); and the other to the OzHarvest "Cook for a Cause" program in Sydney.
The Cook for a Cause sessions are coordinated weekly for
volunteers and supporters of OzHarvest who come and literally do just that - Cook for a Cause! They provide a great team building opportunity, raise funds for OzHarvest and of course produce beautifully cooked food that is then delivered to some of the 300
charitable organizations that OzHarvest Sydney collaborate with.
We are also proud to provide ongoing support to OzHarvest, by purchasing a number of their latest release - a superb cookbook (pictured above, courtesy of blog.ozsale.com.au) which features 'food rescue' recipes from 44 of Australia's most celebrated chefs such as Maggie Beer, George Calombaris, Peter Gilmore, Bill Granger and Neil Perry. All proceeds from the book will go to OzHarvest.
You can purchase the book via their website.
We are gladly giving these away as wonderful corporate gifts to our valued customers and staff.
A superb effort by the team so far. Congratulations OzHarvest!
