Michael John Abraham 13 January 1978 - 2 April 2012
Michael joined Lancer Pacific Pty Ltd on 20 November 2000 as a store-man in our Sydney branch after graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce.
Having learned the business literally from the ground up Michael was promoted to the Business Development Manager. In this role Michael developed strong relationships with many customers, some of whom made the trip to Auckland to pay their respects at his funeral.
On 2 May 2005 Michael was offered and accepted the role of Warehouse Manager at head office and re-located to Adelaide. Michael's systems knowledge, attention to detail and incredible customer focus resulted in great improvements in that area of our business.
In 2007 Michael was promoted to Manager New Zealand, which he commenced on 27 August 2007. Then in June 2011 Michael was promoted to Region Manager NZ, NSW & ACT. Michael led the NZ business to record sales, profitability and ROCE in 2011.
During his 9 month battle with cancer Michael had continued to support his teams and his customers. That fighting spirit earned him the 2012 Managing Directors Award to complement his previous awards for Business Excellence and Best Branch.
Michael's relationship with Lancer goes way back to when his father Richard's business (in partnership with Paul Haskayne) Applied Beverage Systems was a Lancer Distributor and was ultimately acquired by Lancer in 1996.
Michael's lust for life, his generosity and his talent for business will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Hoshizaki Lancer is proud to again be major sponsor of The Leukaemia Foundation's highly successful UGLY Bartender fundraiser which last year raised over $1m toward the search for a cure.
