Key Considerations for Selecting the Right System

When choosing a draught beer system, there are several key factors to consider ensuring the system fits your specific needs. These include:

  1. Space Availability:
    1. Compact Design: Draught Beer Systems (DBF) are designed to fit neatly on a counter, allowing you to maximize your bar’s space. The only additional space required is beneath the counter for the keg and gas.
    2. Single or Dual Tap Options: Depending on your needs, you can opt for either a single or double tap configuration, both offering space-efficient solutions.
  2. Beer Dispensing Capacity:
    1. 1 Tap Systems:
      DBF 25 – 25L (90 Pots) / 4 hour
      DBF 40 – 40L (140 Pots) / 4 hour

    2. 2 Tap Systems:
      DBF 43 – 43L (150 Pots) / 4 hours
  1. Space Efficiency: Draught systems are compact and space efficient. They free up valuable fridge space that would otherwise be occupied by bottles and cans. By serving beer directly from the keg, you reduce the need for large quantities of bottled stock, saving you space and reducing overhead costs.
  2. Cost-Effective: Draught beer typically offers a higher profit margin. Keg beer most often costs less per pint compared to bottled beer, helping you increase your bottom line.
  3. Improved aroma and flavour: Keg beer if flash pasteurised, retaining all the great aroma and flavours of freshly brewed beer. Bottled and canned beers are pasteurised longer which changes aroma and flavour to be less desirable.
  4. Cleaner, More Efficient: A well-maintained draught beer system delivers superior beer quality, with fewer issues like wasted beer or inconsistent pours. Clean lines and systems ensure a fresh, quality beer every time, enhancing the customer experience.

Regular maintenance is essential for keeping your DBF system running efficiently and ensuring the beer quality remains top-notch. Here are some essential maintenance tasks, these are also in the DBF manual:

  1. Daily Cleaning
    1. Clean the Tap: At the end of trade, use a neutral dishwashing detergent to clean the beer tap. Use a tap brush with tap water to clean inside of the spout and leave it in the tap until use.
  2. Weekly Cleaning
    1. Clean the Keg Coupler and Beer Lines: Use a dedicated beer line cleaner and cleaning can to clean and sanitize the keg coupler and beer lines. This prevents yeast and bacteria buildup, which can negatively affect the aroma and taste of beer.
  3. Monthly Checks
    1. Clean the Condenser: Dust and debris can accumulate on the condenser, which can impact the system’s efficiency. Clean it thoroughly to ensure optimal performance.
    2. Check Gas and Beer Hoses: Inspect all hoses for wear and tear, replacing any damaged parts to maintain safe and efficient operation.
  4. Yearly Maintenance
    1. Clean the Water Bath Tank and Ice Coils: Check for scaling or blockages in the water bath tank and coils to maintain the cooling system’s efficiency.
    2. Check for Obstructions: Inspect all components, such as fans and agitator blades, to ensure they are free from debris or blockages.
