Case Study

Suncorp Stadium

Overview

Suncorp Stadium has been the home of rugby league football in Queensland since 1957 and today also hosts rugby union and soccer matches. The stadium hosted the 2008 Rugby League World Cup Final.

The $280 million redevelopment commenced in July 2001 after Game One of the rugby league State of Origin series. The redevelopent was completed in time for the match between the Brisbane Broncos and Newcastle Knights on June 1, 2003 Brisbane’s first game at Lang Park/Suncorp Stadium for more than a decade. The stadium is now a 52,500 state of the art all-seater rectangular stadium, a far cry from the 2 grandstands of the old Suncorp Stadium.

Before the redevelopment it would be fair to say that getting a beer, spirit or soft drink was limited to waiting in long queues and walking long distances for product in a can.

Solution

Part of the offering in the new stadium was to design and construct a state of the art high volume draught beer system. This is where Lancer came into it’s own. Lancer Multi-fill dispensing units had already proven themselves in other venues like the SFS and Gabba, but not on this scale. 48 Multi-fill beer dispensers were installed and connected to 12 different glycol systems.

Results

Getting a quality, cold and quick beer at Lang Park is now standard.

Consumption has gone up and queues have gone down.

The venue has resulted in this format being duplicated in stadia like the Dairy Farmers Stadium in Townsville, Skilled Park Robina, Wembley Stadium in London and interest from other stadia overseas.
