Overview
Murphy’s Pub in the Centre of Ipswich, right on Union Place Mall was built in 1910. With it’s wrought iron balcony and impressive facade it is an Ipswich Icon. With an exciting new Steakhouse menu with a variety of huge branded grass fed or grain fed steaks and an early morning coffee fix available from Murphy’s Café, Murphy’s is reinventing itself for a new century of trading.
Murphys Town Pub CS imageThe hotel still had the now obsolete Temprite system running. With the needle and seats worn and the 750 valves pretty much shot to pieces it was soon obvious that the Temprite’s were unserviceable and a whole new system was required. Incredibly the beer would sometimes freeze in the Temprites so the staff would turn them off to keep serving beer, then when they warmed up they would turn them on again to get the beer cold. This would be repeated on and off all day. And what a credit to the staff and management that the old cellar and the Temprites were immaculately clean, particularly given the age of the venue and the equipment.
Solution
Siberian – bodyWorking with Lion we were able to design a ten tap beer system for two bars running on food grade glycol. The venue doesn’t have a cold-room for keg storage so the system had to be powerful enough to deliver ice cold beers from ambient kegs.
Result
A 3 kW Siberian Glycol Chiller, Lancer Chiller Plates, Cellar Equipment, AS5034 compliant beverage gas system, were coupled with 4 way and 6 way Stainless T Bar Founts. A washout system was installed to simplify regular beerline cleaning. Bar staff are now able to pour high volumes of consistently cold fresh draught beer for their customer’s enjoyment.
